changes afoot

March will come in like a lion for me this year, and likely keep roaring all month. On March first, I’ll be joining the staff at Darien Library.

I’ve had a wonderful time at Danbury Library and feel fortunate to have worked with the lovely people there. I’ve gotten a great education in building innovation into the life of the library and look forward to seeing Danbury continue to grow and push forward.

At Darien, I’ll be the Head of Knowledge and Innovation Services, which is a terrifically fun title and 2.0 for “21st century reference.” I’m looking forward to soaking up as much as I can from Louise Berry, Alan Gray, John Blyberg and the rest of the Darien staff. “Once in a Lifetime” has been a recurring theme for the New Darien Library and this is a once in a lifetime opportunity to join an incredible group of people who are building not only a stunning new library but also the future of libraries and librarianship. Rawr!

Kate: we're really excited you're coming.

Tim, you're right, great things are happening in Danbury, a library for which we have immense respect (has anyone looked at the number of circs per year they get for each item?)and there's undoubtedly more to come as an example to us all. Down here in Darien, we're going to be working hard to do our part to help keep Connecticut in the forefront of the library world.
